WIP – Sugar Loop

This guy’s a character out of Khatoblepas‘ game Death Wore Endless Feathers who’s just adorable.  Or is supposed to be, anyway; I seem to have fallen out of the practice of drawing raccoons, and I’m not too happy with this so far. I’ll probably end up redrawing this.  (Seems to be a trend with other folks’ characters; I had to redraw Jakob at least once too.)

2009-09-01 LoopI suppose while I’m at it I could try more interesting pose too.  :|

WIP – Taaq

And here’s the result of the scheduled work on the icebear I did this week.  Unless someone points out something horrible, this’ll probably be the last pencil version, and I’ll start coloring from here.

WIP [partim] – Myces page 4

Worked on the sane panel for a bit.  I’m not happy with it chiefly because I still can’t get the hang of drawing people walking.  There’s actually a bit of background that was too light to make it into the scan—not much, admittedly, but it’s not going to be a featureless white void.

Myces page 4 as of 2009-08-25 How do you draw walking and make it look convincing?

Also: I know the Mycenaean is pretty bad, even (especially) taken as Greek.

WIP [coloring] – Kit and Muke

Here’s another one of the old requests I started at the beginning of the year and still haven’t finished yet… the B&W was posted to Fur Affinity in March, but I’m still working on the accoloration.   (This should give you an idea of how slowly I usually work.)

Kit and Muke as of 2009-08-24This week I was mostly working on cleaning up the colors, an effect which probably doesn’t show much because a) the difference is negligible at thumbnail size and b) y’all haven’t seen what it looked like before any of the work was done.

Nevertheless, you may consider progress as being made!

WIP – Kohath

For some reason my last picture of Kohath was drawn well over five years ago, and I figured I’d better draw a new one since the old one was kind of awful, too.

I started on this a bit ago and worked on it for a while this weekend at the Aurora furmeet.

Kohath

I have a sort of idea that there should be another person in the shot (I can see him watching Scott go up the stairs) but I’m not sure it’d be worth the effort.  What do y’all think?

WIP – Taaq

I did some unscheduled work on this at the Aurora furmeet on Saturday night, just ’cause it’d been a while.   Worked on the shading a bit, and am trying to get the iceberg to resolve some—I know already that it’s too pointy along the top; that’ll be the next thing in need of work.

Taaq as of 2009-08-24I really like this guy, hehe.  Hopin’ it turns out well.

On a more general note, I’ve decided once a week is a little too infrequently to post here, so instead I’m going to try and post a couple of things every few days.

WIP – Myces page 4 (where we meet Xylophanes)

Someday I won’t be so slow at drawing and I’ll be able to post new pages of things before people have forgotten the old ones.

Haha, who am I kidding?  Nobody forgets these.

WIP [coloring] – Myces page 2 (The one with the fencepost).

I actually am working on coloring these.  (For those who missed out, the full-size b&w version is in my Fur Affinity scraps.)  I know it’s strange, outlandish stuff, but that’s what imagination’s for.

WIP – Taaq the Icebear.

All right, guys, this week I was slackin’ off a bunch on the getting things done front, in arts and elsewhere. It may take me a while to get the hang of doing this, so be patient with me. Decided it’d make the most sense to post each piece I’ve been working on in separate posts, even if it means a little mini-flood every week.

So, the first thing I’m posting today is one some of you have already seen, which is the picture of IcebearMuke. He’s the bear I’ve been playing on Sundays. Well, I say IcebearMuke. The characters I play online tend to acquire counterparts in my worlds, and this guy is really more in that element than mine. He’s kind of slotted into Nother, around Kohath’s timeframe. Not sure what planet he lives on. His name is Taaq Ulluriittuq (á‘–á–… ᐅᓪᓗᕇᑦᑐᖅ) which is supposed to be Inuktitut for ‘the dark is starless’. Not many polar bears left in those days.

He fishes.  And of course he’s chubby. ;)

Barbarian Jakob.

Barbarian JakobA request by Khatoblepas.  This is his character Jakob, a portly behemoth, as a loinclothed barbarian leaping through the air with one of those gradient effects flying off his sword; I suppose he’s not high-level enough to produce a lens flare.

It came out very pastel because of some effect of the light; the character’s normally a much darker purple.   This picture took about seven and a half hours to complete, the last two being coloring.  I had to redraw it entirely once, as the first sketch became untenable about halfway through.
